to the unconventional creative journey

once again, my husband's career led us to the great state of TX, where we have called home since 2016. while settling in, i embarked on a professional journey that uniquely intertwined with my personal aspirations, finding a social media role with a local church. although it was fulfilling in many ways, i yearned for a creative outlet that would inspire my spirit. this longing led me to transition to a marketing communications company, where i gained valuable experience, but still felt a void in my creative expression.
the catalyst for change emerged when i decided to launch xo cakery as a side hustle, seeking to rekindle my passion for creativity. to my surprise, this endeavor surpassed all expectations, swiftly blossoming into a thriving business. as i delved deeper into the world of baking and confectionery, i found a sense of fulfillment. refusing to look back, i devoted six years to nurturing and expanding my own enterprise, forging meaningful connections and savoring the journey.
with my life taking yet another significant turn, i made the heartfelt decision to embrace the role of a stay-at-home mom to my now five-year-old child. nonetheless, being a multi-hat wearing woman, i remained engaged in freelance work, leveraging and honing my skills while tending to my beloved family.
as my child prepares to embark on a full-time school journey, i find myself on the cusp of a new chapter, eager to immerse myself in fresh opportunities. i long to contribute my skills and expertise to a passionate team, hoping to make a meaningful impact. i am enthusiastic about the prospect of becoming a valued member to a company, where i can play a pivotal role in bringing beautiful ideas to life.

hey there! let's take a trip down memory lane to 2008, when i stepped out into the world with a shiny degree in advertising. ready to conquer the market, life had other plans as the economic crash forced me to pivot and adapt. i graciously took on the role of a wedding cake decorator, all while nurturing my passion for graphic design as i freelanced on the side.
fast forward through six years of creating beautiful confections and a new chapter unfolds as my husband's job whisks us away from snowy MI to the sunny state of CA. it is there that i found myself wearing various hats at a small family-run paper company. it was a period of immense growth, where i soaked up new skills, honed in my design aesthetic and revisited a lost love for illustration.
let's not stop there!
